Chemical Process Engineering Internship
🌱 About NitroCapt:
NitroCapt is a climate-tech innovator revolutionizing one of the world’s largest chemical processes: The nitrogen fertilizer production. Using only air, water, and renewable energy, we create the world’s most sustainable and cost-efficient technology for fixation of nitrogen from the air to make fertilizers.
As global demand for food increases, nitrogen—essential for plant growth—plays a crucial role. However, today’s nitrogen fertilizer industry is heavily reliant on fossil fuels, contributing to CO2 emissions equivalent to those of the global aviation industry.
Our award-winning solution offers a rapid pathway to a decarbonized nitrogen fertilizer industry, providing a business model that not only reduces emissions but also increases profitability for our customers compared to fossil-based fertilizers, and contributes to a resilient food production.
NitroCapt is offering an exciting internship for around 6 -12 months to enthusiastic candidates to work on the development of our groundbreaking technology. We are seeking a Chemical Process Engineering Intern to contribute to our nitric acid and fertilizer system.
The role focuses on process design, scale-up calculations, equipment selections, equipment sizing, and related process engineering tasks.
You will play a key role in transferring processes from laboratory to pilot scale and further into industrial implementation, ensuring efficient, safe, and scalable operations.
You will also actively participate in experimental work to support process development, validation, and optimization.
Support safety assessments (HAZOP, FMEA) and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
Translate experimental findings into scalable process designs and improvements, including documentation work.
This will be a great opportunity to apply your academic learnings in an industrial setting.
You will work closely with a great team of highly skilled chemists and engineers.
The position is on site at the NitroCapt headquarter at Danmarksgatan 26 in Uppsala, Sweden.
What we offer:
A unique industrial experience that directly drives sustainable environmental impact.
Hands-on experience in a dynamic startup environment.
To be part of a dynamic, purpose-driven, international team.
An innovative entrepreneurial environment with possibilities to have great influence.
Involvement in cutting-edge projects focused on sustainability and green technology.
To work closely with some of Europe’s best researchers and engineers in our fields, in projects coordinated by NitroCapt.
This is a part time (75-80%) paid internship.

About NitroCapt
NitroCapt is a climate-tech company creating a sustainable cost-efficient green nitrogen fertilizer with zero emission, using air, water and renewable energy as the only input – a true revolution!
We need fertilizers in order to feed a growing population and nitrogen is the most commonly used plant nutrient. However, the nitrogen fertilizer industry today is fossil-dependent, and the CO2-emissions are at the same levels as the global aviation industry, 500 million tons yearly!
Our award-winning solution provides a quick transition into a decarbonized nitrogen fertilizer industry with a business model that makes our customer more profitable than continuing with fossil-based fertilizers.
